Middle School Spanish Teacher
This is a full-time position reporting to the Middle School Head. The Boulder Country Day Middle School Spanish Teacher teaches Spanish in grades 6-8 following the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) model. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Teach up to 5 sections of Middle School Spanish
- Collaborate with middle school faculty, learning specialists, and division head to build, review, and revise meaningful and engaging curriculum
- Participate in ongoing training and weekly faculty meetings
- Support enrollment and retention by assisting with tours, events, and other school outreach
- Perform other duties as directed by the Head of School
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
- Speak Spanish fluently
- Bachelor’s in Spanish education, Master’s preferred;
- Education in or exposure to Developmental Designs for Middle School or Responsive Classroom for Middle School;
- Experience teaching in grades 6-8;
- Demonstrated love for working with middle school students;
- Experience working in an IB setting;
- Keen interest in experiential learning;
- Knowledge of or background in independent schools;
- Desire to teach in a technology rich 1:1 learning environment including innovative use of technology and digital resources in math and science;
- Ability to differentiate within each class;
- Flexibility, ability to work with change, and strengths in innovation; and
- Effective communication skills.
Hours and Pay
- BCD’s Middle School Spanish Teacher will work 7:30-3:30
- Salary for Learning Specialists starts at $54,000 (for 10 months following an August through May school year calendar) and compensation increases commensurate with years of experience and degree attained.
- This is an exempt position with full time benefits:
