REPORTS TO:
Head of Elementary School
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working closely with the Head of Elementary School, and teacher colleagues, teaching engaging, activity-based, and 21st century pedagogical practices to elementary school children. Responsible for instructing students in language arts, math, social studies, and social-emotional learning.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AS REQUIRED:
· Serve on committees as assigned
· Lead/teach a homeroom group of students
· Lead extra-curricular activities as agreed upon with the Head of Elementary School;
· Participate leading students in multi-night excursions into the field;
· Support the school, its mission, and its leadership
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School, and as reasonably necessary for the functioning and success of the school.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
· A bachelor’s degree in an education or discipline-related field, advanced degree preferred
· Classroom experience teaching at the elementary school level
· Demonstrated passion for project and activity-based instruction of elementary school students
· Experience teaching and using a variety of presentation software for creating visual media
· Ability to integrate technology, use innovative curricula, and employ best pedagogical practices
· Understanding of the developmental needs of elementary school students
· Ability to differentiate instruction when necessary, to reach all levels of learners
· Collaborative spirit in developing curricula and teaching methods, both within the department and across other disciplines
· Flexibility, optimism, creativity, high expectations, and a growth mindset
· Enthusiastic involvement in the school community outside the classroom
· Proven positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and families
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
· Proven organizational skills
· Passion for the uniqueness of elementary learners
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
