ACIS Director of Professional Development and Sponsorship

Job Title: Director of Professional Development and Sponsorship

Reports to: Executive Director

Position Type: Part-time (20 hrs. per week maximum, 10.5 months per year); non-exempt

Travel Required: Yes, for occasional events

Work Environment: Primarily remote, with occasional in-office meetings and onsite attendance of events. Weekly hours are flexible except for when a conference or event is being held.

Compensation: $32 per hour. Opportunities for salary growth with successful growth of sponsorship program.

Job Description:

The Director of Professional Development and Sponsorship is responsible for managing the conferences, workshops, and professional development programs sponsored by ACIS. This person will also manage the ACIS corporate sponsorship program including the identification, recruitment, and onboarding of new sponsors, coordinating sponsor benefits, handling communication efforts, and maintaining positive relationships.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Professional Development

  • Establish and maintain the annual professional development calendar in cooperation with the Executive Director and Executive Assistant.
  • Identify topics of interest to ACIS members for webinars and workshops.
  • Establish relationships and maintain communication with ACIS affinity groups to determine areas of interest for future PD planning
  • Remain current on educational and independent school issues, develop and maintain networking ties with other PD coordinators, and develop a database of speakers, facilitators, and presenters for presentations.
  • Manage all special workshops and webinars held on an as-needed basis, including post event evaluation and resource sharing.
  • Manage marketing for ACIS professional development events.
  • Assist with professional development committee meetings

PD/Event Planning and Management

  • Assist the Executive Director and Executive Assistant with the negotiation of all hotel contracts for conference events.
  • Manage all logistics with speakers/presenters, sponsors, volunteers, and hotel staff.
  • Manage and coordinate logistics of online presentations, primarily via Zoom
  • Attend each event as the on-site coordinator.
  • Create and manage event registration, with the help of the Executive Assistant.
  • Budget and manage the finances for each event, with the help of the Executive Director and Executive Assistant.

Corporate Sponsorship

  • Manage all aspects of conference sponsorship program
  • Identify, recruit and onboard all corporate sponsors
  • Maintain up to date sponsor database, including potential new sponsors
  • Manage all communications with corporate sponsors and maintain positive, mutually beneficial relationships
  • Manage sponsors at appropriate ACIS conferences and events
  • Evaluate and update sponsor benefits as needed on a yearly basis
  • Represent ACIS is a positive and professional way

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills and strict attention to detail.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in writing, by phone, and in person.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn on the job.
  • Ability to problem-solve rapidly in times of stress.
  • B.A. preferred.
  • Experience in event planning and/or in education preferred.

Physical Demands:

There are minimal physical demands. When running conferences, there are long days that involve large amounts of walking, standing for long periods of time, and moving light materials: boxes, conference supplies, and some electronics.
