Learning Center Overview:

BCD’s Learning Center Team currently comprises three full-time learning specialists (two in elementary and one in middle school) and one part-time learning specialist in elementary school. We are looking to add a Learning Center Assistant for the middle school at approximately 10 hours per week. We coordinate Learning Center activities by grade level (K-2, 3-5, and 6-8). The learning specialists work with the other members of the team, the division heads, teachers, and students to support the diverse needs of a variety of learners across divisions. 


Specific responsibilities of the Learning Center Assistant include:


  • Support students with executive functioning needs

  • Supervise independent work

  • Assist in administrative duties such as records management and testing coordination

  • Staff study periods

  • Coordinate make-up work with students, families, and teachers

  • Other duties as assigned


The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

  • An undergraduate degree in special education or a related field

  • Two to five years  of experience working with Middle School students

  • Experience working in a learning center and/or with students with learning differences

  • Effective communication skills

  • Expertise in technology and computer skills

  • Ability to work as a team member

  •  Excellent organizational skills
