Mathematics Teaching Position

February 18, 2020 - May 1, 2020

Colorado Rocky Mountain School is seeking an experienced upper-school mathematics teacher for the fall of 2020. Applicants should have teaching experience and, at minimum, a college degree in a math-related field. CRMS faculty employ a student-centered approach to teaching, meeting individual student’s needs in developing an academically vibrant and skilled level of scholarship. All faculty also participate in our active program and must demonstrate proficiencies related to our outdoor curriculum and/or sports programs.  Applicants should be eager to contribute to our residential and advisory programs and are expected to act effectively within a diverse cultural and social framework. 


Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Teach three to four academic courses

  • Support boarding students as a dorm parent in the evening and weekend residential program 

  • Mentor a group of students as an advisor

  • Instruct active program curriculum including trips and mountain sports 

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues

  • Foster diversity, inclusion, and social justice to promote a healthy learning environment

  • Take on other duties as needed

  • Execute all duties in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; advanced degree and/or teaching credential preferred 

  • Experience teaching Algebra 1 and/or Geometry (one-year minimum)

  • Ability to teach diverse mathematics offerings preferred

  • Demonstrated experience and skill in the effective use of technology and integrating technological applications in the classroom

  • Proficiencies related to our outdoor and/or mountain sports curricula (previous institutional experience preferred)

  • Must have or be willing to obtain Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder and CPR certifications

  • Ability to effectively engage as a dorm parent and advisor
