Communications Coordinator

September 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024

Kent Denver School is looking for a creative, detail-oriented and collaborative professional to join our communications team. The successful candidate will have a diverse set of communications skills including a strong writing background, videography/video editing, graphic design, photography, and web content creation.  

The Communications Coordinator reports to the Director of Communications and is a key content creator for internal and external school communications. The Communications Coordinator will play a key role in assisting the school as we pursue our ambitious mission of transforming lives of students and community through extraordinary educational experiences

Responsibilities:

Weekly newsletter management:

  • Plan and curate parent/guardian newsletters including: Connection, The Week Ahead and the KDPA newsletter: Parent Community News
  • Regularly track newsletter metrics to evaluate effectiveness of publications and messaging
  • Maintain newsletter and email archive page for KDS parents

Provide ongoing creative service project management:

  • Enhance internal and external communications by managing photography, videography, video editing and graphic design projects.
  • Manage and curate Kent Denver’s photo and video archives.
  • Provide support to students and employees seeking to use photo and/or design assets for school-related projects.
  • Assist in content creation and promotion on a variety of multimedia channels, including official school social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.

Manage and update key internal and external publications:

  • Publications include, but are not limited to: the Curriculum Guide, Family Handbook, Employee Handbook, Back-to-School-Planner and Perspective alumni magazine.

Support Kent Denver’s  website through general updates:

  • Regularly maintain the Parent Portal and Home Page News sections.
  • Create, maintain and troubleshoot community email lists and message templates.
  • Train and support internal users, especially senior administrators and deans.

Other:

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director
  • Additional school-day student facing activity (e.g. advisory, club, elective, DEI initiative, etc), as agreed by the Director

Skills and experience:

  • AP Style Writing/General Writing Skills: 
    • You must possess a knowledge and awareness of AP style and the strong writing skills required to maintain the established tone and voice of Kent Dever writing to succeed in this position
  • Video/Photo Editing:
    • This position requires video/photo editing experience, preferably with Adobe Creative Suite applications such as Premiere, Photoshop and Lightroom. In this position, you are co-editing and co-producing all creative content produced by the Kent Denver communications department.
    Additional Preferred Experience: Adobe InDesign
  • High Attention to Detail and Creative Mindset
    • This position requires someone to have a high attention to detail.
    • The ability to create and execute multimedia projects, bringing unique ideas and perspectives to the Communications Team.
    • Showcases strong initiative and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently on a wide variety of projects
  • Web Content & Social Media Management Systems
    • Preferred experience using a Website Content Management System, such as FinalSite, and social media management tools including Meta Business Suite. 
    • The ability to quickly adopt a wide array of technological platforms is essential for this position. If you don’t have this experience, training can be provided upon hiring.

Salary Range:

The salary range is $52,000 - $60,000

This is a full time exempt position with full medical, dental and retirement benefits, and paid vacation, sick and personal leave.  This information will be available at the time of the interview.
