The ideal candidate: 

  • Degree in Special Education, Literacy, or related field; graduate degree preferred 

  • 3+ years of teaching experience 

  • Knowledge of learning disabilities, psycho-educational evaluations, reports, and associated technology 

  • Successful experience offering literacy instruction; mathematics support experience preferred 

  • Full understanding of differentiated instructional strategies across the curriculum

Primary Responsibilities: 

The Director of Learning Support is responsible for coordinating support for students with mild to moderate learning differences in grades K-8. The Director of Learning Support is expected to: 

  • Promote enhanced?instruction and student learning by: 

  • Coaching and working with teachers to develop more effective?teaching practices 

  • Sharing information that addresses the way in which students learn best 

  • Assisting teachers in differentiating curriculum to meet student needs 

  • Supporting teachers’ instructional practice using strategies such as demonstration teaching/modeled lessons, co-teaching, classroom observation, data analysis, and debriefing. 

  • Work with teachers to identify students who need learning support and, when appropriate, make?referrals for diagnostic evaluations. 

  • Assist?parents and faculty in interpreting evaluation results.? 

  • Review psycho-educational evaluations; translate results into recommendations for teachers by creating Student Learning Plans (SLP) which include testing summaries, accommodations, and modifications.?Hold annual SLP meetings with teachers and parents. 

  • Manage student roster and confidential data for students being served by Summit Learning 

  • Supervise small groups of students in completing work in their areas of challenge. 

  • Support student success in all academic areas, organizational skills and social/emotional needs.?? 

  • Collaborate with tutors to align tutoring materials and content with Evergreen Country Day curriculum and expectations and with?students'?remediation?needs.?? 

  • Secure standardized testing accommodations for qualifying students 

  • Work with Director of Admissions to review incoming students’ files and advise in selecting mission-appropriate candidates.  

  • Pursue professional development opportunities to aid in continual growth and to remain current with industry trends. 

  • Participate in school meetings and school-sponsored events. 

  • Be actively involved in the school community at large. 

  • Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the Head of School. 

Salary and Benefits: 

ECDS offers a competitive benefits package that includes retirement match, health, dental, and vision care plans. 

This salary will likely be between $50,000 and $65,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

5th grade Lead Teacher
