Full membership is granted to schools that meet membership standards and have successfully completed the evaluation/accreditation program as determined by the ACIS Board of Directors. Member schools shall continue in good standing so long as they comply with the Standards established by ACIS, successfully complete all requirements of the ten-year accreditation cycle, and meet other obligations that are detailed in the by-laws and organizational guidelines. The Head of School shall represent his/her school to the ACIS membership.
Conditional members are schools that have fallen significantly out of compliance with ACIS standards, or have not responded adequately to the recommendations of the Visiting Team. The ACIS Board of Directors will determine the period of Conditional Membership based on the issues and concerns related to that change in status. If the situation has not been resolved to the satisfaction of the Accreditation Committee and the Board of Directors by that time, the school may be dropped from membership. Members in this category are eligible to serve on all Standing Committees of the Association. However, Conditional Members may not serve on the Board of Directors, may not serve as Visiting Team Chairs, and may not vote on Association business. Conditional members pay full dues. ACIS maintains strict confidentiality about schools placed on Conditional Membership status to ensure that increased accountability supports improvement instead of lowering confidence in school leaders.
These are schools that have successfully operated for a minimum of five years, but have not been evaluated for accreditation by ACIS. Candidacy members remain in this status prior to receiving accreditation. Members in this category are eligible to serve on all Standing Committees of the Association. However, Candidacy members may not serve on the Board of Directors, may not serve as Visiting Team Chairs, may not vote on Association business, and may not advertise as an ACIS member school. Candidacy members pay full dues.
ACIS reserves the right to limit the number of schools applying for Candidacy Status. The Board of Directors sets that number.
Schools in all membership categories pay ACIS dues at the same rate, based on full-time equivalent enrollment.
