Position Overview

The Logan School is looking for two Middle School Boys Basketball Coaches for the upcoming winter season, one for JV and one for Varsity. This is a part-time, seasonal position with practices held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30–5:00 p.m. The season runs from November 4 through January 30. We’re seeking someone who is passionate about basketball and enjoys mentoring young athletes—helping them grow both as players and as teammates. The coach will be responsible for attending all practices and games (a total of 9 games), as well as completing required certifications such as CPR/First Aid, concussion identification training, bus certification, and attending a pre-season orientation meeting at the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct a 1½-hour practice session, 2 days per week

• Teach and build basketball skills, from basics to game-ready techniques

•  Plan and run fun, focused practices that help players improve and work together

•  Coach at all home and away games during the season

• Help get students excited to join and stay involved with the team

• Drive the team to away games and supervise players during travel

• Be able to arrive at the school by 2:45 p.m. for three away games this season

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and skill development

• Familiar with fitness, safety, and proper use of sports equipment

• Brings patience, positivity, and energy to working with students

• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Dependable and punctual for practices, games, and meetings

• Previous experience working with students in the 5th–8th grade age range

• Clear and effective communicator

• Must pass a criminal background check

Compensation

This is a part-time seasonal position. The stipend is $1,600 in the form of a one-time payment at the completion of the season. Benefits are not provided for this position.
