Position Reports to: Upper Division Principal  


Position Start date: August 2025


Salary: $60,000-$68,000, depending on experience. Competitive benefits package includes health insurance, retirement match, school holidays & breaks, & minimum of 50% tuition discount.


Position Summary: The Behavior Specialist provides individualized and small group interventions to support students in developing responsible behavior patterns and reducing challenging behaviors. This role requires a professional with at least moderate behavioral intervention experience who can build strong rapport with students while supporting their executive functioning skills. The specialist collaborates with students' families, faculty, and other interventionists to create and implement robust support systems. The position involves documenting, analyzing, and discussing intervention data with stakeholders to ensure program effectiveness and student growth.


Key Responsibilities: The Behavior Specialist will manage a diverse caseload of students requiring more intensive support across various behavioral, social-emotional, and executive functioning needs. For these students, the specialist will:

  • Develop and implement proactive behavior intervention strategies and comprehensive behavior support plans tailored to individual student needs

  • Provide direct executive functioning support, including organization, time management, planning, and self-regulation skills development

  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote positive classroom management and student engagement, including push-in classroom support and collaborative strategy development

  • Deliver flexible academic support in areas such as writing or mathematics, adapting to individual student learning styles and needs

  • Facilitate restorative conversations and practices aligned with school values, working closely with counseling and LRC teams

  • Provide after-school support and interventions to extend learning opportunities beyond traditional school hours

  • Connect meaningfully with students to build trust and rapport, recognizing that strong relationships are fundamental to successful interventions

  • Consult with LRC teams and families on comprehensive strategies to support student success across multiple environments

  • Participate in IEP, 504, and student support team meetings, contributing to Differentiated Learning Plan development

  • Collect and analyze behavioral data to assess intervention effectiveness and make data-driven adjustments to support strategies

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and professional development to staff in behavior management, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning

  • Possibly run recurring classes in a skill such as executive functioning or in a content area where SEL skills can be reinforced within the context of building mastery in an academic subject

  • Support school-wide SEL initiatives while maintaining flexibility to address emerging student needs

  • Collaborate with student support professionals and faculty in developing school-wide systems grounded in Multi-Tiered System of Support frameworks

  • Demonstrate adaptability in supporting the varied needs of our diverse student population through multiple program approaches

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in behavioral intervention and student support for students with moderate needs or higher

  • Demonstrated experience supporting executive functioning skill development

  • Comprehensive knowledge of neurodivergent learning profiles and support strategies

  • Strong foundation in trauma-informed behavioral practices and approaches

  • Strong ability to build rapport and connect with students from diverse backgrounds

  • Flexibility to adapt interventions and support strategies based on individual student needs

  • Availability for after-school programming and support

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing academic support, particularly in writing or mathematics
