K-8 Spanish Teacher (Full-Time)
Mackintosh Academy – Boulder, a co-educational independent school serving gifted students in grades K through 8, is seeking a full-time K–8 Spanish Teacher for the 2025–2026 academic year. Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative K-8 Spanish Teacher to design and deliver an engaging K–8 world language program. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a deep love for language and culture into the classroom, while aligning instruction with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. This role involves cultivating linguistic fluency, cultural competence, and global citizenship in our students through inquiry-based, engaging learning experiences.
Position Description
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Design and implement a developmentally appropriate, culturally rich, and inquiry-based Spanish (Language
Acquisition in IB terms) curriculum tailored for students in Kindergarten through eighth grade using resources and available curriculum.
-Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, including gifted and twice-exceptional learners, those new to Spanish, and those with advanced proficiency.
-Integrate the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) frameworks, collaborating with homeroom and specialist teachers to support Lower School interdisciplinary units of inquiry and Middle School interdisciplinary units.
-Create and sustain a language-rich environment using a communicative and balanced approach that includes reading, writing, speaking, listening, movement, music, games, storytelling, and cultural exploration.
-Create a classroom culture that fosters a sense of belonging, encourages risk-taking, promotes respect for diverse perspectives, and inspires a passion for global learning.
-Maintain consistent and clear communication with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
-Provide regular feedback of student progress using qualitative and quantitative tools aligned with IB expectations.
-Support school-wide events and traditions, such as international days, student showcases, and/or language-based community projects.
-Actively participate in the fostering of a positive middle school culture through opportunities such as day field trips, extended educational trips, clubs, homeroom and house activities, among others.
-Other tasks or duties as assigned.
-Support the overall mission of Mackintosh Academy - Boulder.
Credentials / Salary / Benefits
-Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish and strong proficiency in English required.
- Experience in gifted education and/or International Baccalaureate programs is valued.
- Demonstrated success in teaching Spanish to children in K–8 settings.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across grade levels.

Salary Range: $54,500 - $80,000 for 100% FTE.
