Learning Specialist

Position Overview

The Learning Specialist role is responsible for managing, supervising, evaluating, and coordinating student learning plans, accommodations, and individualized support at The Logan School. The Learning Specialist serves as a member of the Educational Support Team, collaborating with the school psychologist, counseling team, Coordinator of Faculty and Program Development, and administration to guide teachers, students, and their families in understanding each child’s unique learning needs.

Direct Supervisor: The Learning Specialist reports to the Director of Primary/LIS

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct support to students through one-on-one and small group instruction in academic areas and executive functioning skills

  • Partner with classroom teachers, the educational support team, and the administration on student learning in all areas

  • Support teachers, administrators, and parents’ understanding of students with learning challenges

  • Administer assessments and conduct student observations to determine student needs

  • Routinely monitor student progress

  • Create and implement student learning and accommodation plans

  • Maintain confidential student records

  • Guide families in identifying and understanding their child’s learning needs, as well as assist in finding appropriate outside assessment and support, when necessary

  • Partner with psychoeducational evaluators, families, and tutors to streamline student learning and support in and out of the classroom

  • Manage the coordination and scheduling of private tutors on campus and ensure they have completed background checks 

  • Attend conferences and parent/team meetings as needed

  • Collaboration with the Denver Public Schools (DPS) Child Find team to support student IEP and 504 evaluations

  • Identify professional development opportunities for the faculty and parent education

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree or equivalent experience working with students with diagnosed learning disabilities

  • Certifications in intervention programs that support students with diagnosed learning disabilities are preferred

  • Experience working with students at the Primary, Intermediate School (IS), and Advanced School (AS) levels with learning challenges in the areas of literacy, math, and executive functioning

  • Experience in reading, interpreting, and summarizing educational evaluations and neuropsychological reports

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both kids and adults

  • Experience working in close collaboration with teachers, families, outside providers, and school administrators

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Experience in IEP, 504, and accommodation plan development

  • Experience with and understanding of gifted students and twice exceptional learning profiles

  • Demonstrates cultural competency and skills engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences

  • Approaches work with energy, kindness, maturity, curiosity, and flexibility

  • Has a sense of humor

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $55,000-$85,000, depending on years of experience with special interventions as a primary responsibility and skill set, for a 10-month work period. This will be prorated over 12 months for the 2025-2026 school year, based on the start date. Status

The Learning Specialist is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, and in-person during the school year (August - June).
