Description

We are seeking a Lead Teacher that plays a key role in the daily operations of an early childhood classroom, working in close partnership with the Mentor Teacher to implement curriculum, manage classroom routines, and promote a nurturing and stimulating learning environment. This position supports the social, emotional, and developmental growth of young children through responsive teaching and collaboration with colleagues and families.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Mentor Teacher in planning and facilitating developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities.
  • Supervise and engage with children during all parts of the day, promoting active participation and curiosity.
  • Support the social and emotional development of children through consistent routines and positive guidance.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized classroom that fosters learning and exploration.
  • Communicate effectively with families by sharing updates about children’s learning and classroom activities.
  • Assist with observations, documentation, and assessments of children’s development.
  • Engage in daily documentation practices and evidence of learning including digital communication with families and classroom displays to highlight children's learning each day. 
  • Participate in team planning, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development.
  • Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including licensing, health, safety, and emergency protocols.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, year-round position in a licensed early childhood program.
  • Working with children ages 1-3 years 
  • Daily responsibilities include active supervision of children indoors and outdoors, participation in classroom activities, and occasional lifting or carrying of children or classroom materials. Additionally, supporting children with personal care routines, such as diapering and toilet training, is also part of the role.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 6 credit hours in Early Childhood Education (including ECE 101 and ECE 103) or equivalent community-based training (e.g., EQITPyramid Plus).
  • Colorado Shines Credential Level 3 or 4 preferred.
  • Experience working with young children in an early childhood classroom.
  • Knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate, take initiative, and maintain professionalism in a team setting

The pay for this position is  $22.60–$25.80/hour. Although this is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience. Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance benefit programs are available, as is a 403(b) retirement plan. Eligibility for all benefit programs is defined by the applicable plan document.
