Salary:

Starting salary for first year faculty without teaching experience is $58,000. Salary will be higher for teachers with experience and/or additional qualifications.

Accountability: Reports to the Head of Lower School

Position Description: The Denver Academy T1 Teacher is responsible for executing Denver Academy’s mission of inspiring and empowering diverse learners through student-centered, differentiated, and transformative education. This position requires participation in an induction and orientation summer program, including weekly meetings with the Program Team as part of a mentorship program. The T1 Teacher will participate in observation and co-teaching opportunities, attend regular professional development workshops and seminars, reflect on teaching practice, and collaborate within professional communities.

A successful candidate will be comfortable working with individuals or small groups for student support and able to lead whole-class instruction, including providing coverage for absent teachers across a variety of disciplines. Additionally, the T1 Teacher will support classroom teachers with tasks such as grading, assistive technology support, monitoring student progress, and assisting with classroom management, transitions, and supervision to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

Teaching Responsibilities

Teaching:

  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Plan and deliver effective, differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborate with Deans, Division Heads, and the Program Team to deliver the DA curriculum.
  • Remain current with DA programs, curriculum and instructional practices.

Management:

  • Communicate effectively with teachers, Deans, and the Head of Lower School
  • Maintain electronic attendance and gradebook systems for teachers, as needed
  • Provide supervision before school, during lunch, and after school
  • Support testing and various assessments

Leadership and School Responsibilities:

  • Model professionalism in the classroom and within the division
  • Positively represent the Denver Academy community
  • Model respect and responsibility

Additional Responsibilities (as appropriate):

  • Participate in school functions, such as Admissions Open Houses, plays and sporting events
  • Attend Elementary School Information Night, Back-to-School Night, and New Parent Orientation
  • Attend in-service days and teacher training
  • Complete additional job-related responsibilities as needed
