Friends School Boulder is seeking a curious, committed scientist and educator to join our middle school faculty. This full-time position is centered in science, with some additional responsibility for lower-level math instruction. If you love science, love working with young adolescents, and want to teach in a school that takes interdisciplinary, inquiry-driven learning seriously, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
Science is the heart of this position. You’ll develop and teach an interdisciplinary science curriculum across grades 5 through 8, designing learning experiences that connect disciplines, raise real questions, and invite students into genuine investigation. Our science program isn’t built around a single textbook sequence. It’s built around wonder, rigor, and the kind of thinking that sticks.
You’ll also teach some lower-level math classes, where curriculum and materials are already established, allowing you to focus your energy on great instruction rather than building from scratch.
Beyond the classroom, you’ll collaborate closely with colleagues, connect regularly with families, and participate in the full life of a small school community.
About Us
Friends School Boulder is a small, progressive independent school grounded in equity, social-emotional learning, and authentic intellectual challenge. Our faculty know each other well, work closely together, and take the craft of teaching seriously. Progressive pedagogy here isn’t a tagline. It’s how we actually work.
