About the Position:
The Logan School seeks a dynamic and creative Art Specialist Teacher to inspire and engage gifted learners in grades K–8. The ideal candidate will design and deliver a comprehensive, student-centered arts program that encourages exploration, creativity, and self-expression across a variety of artistic disciplines. This teacher will integrate visual arts into Logan’s individualized, inquiry-based curriculum and support students in connecting artistic practice to their personal interests and academic studies.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement an engaging Fine Arts curriculum aligned with Logan’s individualized and inquiry-based learning approach

Teach a range of artistic disciplines (e.g., drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and/or other visual arts)

Foster a studio environment that promotes creativity, experimentation, and critical thinking

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of gifted learners with diverse strengths and interests

Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate visual arts into interdisciplinary units of study

Guide students in developing portfolios that reflect their artistic growth and personal interests

Provide constructive feedback that supports artistic skill development and creative confidence

Organize and showcase student work through exhibitions and school events

Maintain and manage art materials, tools, and studio space effectively

Partner with families to communicate student progress and support artistic development

Contribute to a school culture that values inclusion, respect, and community engagement

Writes student feedback reports on a quarterly basis to communicate progress to families.

This is a .8 position.

Work hours are:

M 12 pm - 4 pm
-
T/W/Th 8 am - 4 pm
-
Friday 9 am - 1 pm

At least once per week until 5:00 pm for All-Staff Meetings; typically Wednesdays

Occasional evening/weekend hours for school-wide events.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)

Teaching experience with elementary and/or middle school students, preferably in an independent or gifted education setting

Strong understanding of student-centered and inquiry-based teaching practices

Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners

Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and community building

Excellent collaboration and communication skills
-
Flexibility, creativity, and a passion for working with gifted children
Compensation:
The Logan School offers a salary range between $40,000 and $56,000. Salary consideration is given for seniority, merit, quality, education, and experience.

Status:
The Arts Specialist Teacher is a .8 time (30 hours), salaried, exempt position during the school year (August - July).
