About the Position
The Logan School seeks a full-time Physical Education Teacher & Athletic Director to work with students ages 4½–14. This role includes teaching engaging and inclusive PE classes that support physical wellness, teamwork, movement, and skill development, while also coordinating athletic programming and sports scheduling. The ideal candidate brings strong relationship-building skills, an understanding of child development, and a commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
This is a full-time position consisting of 30 hours of teaching and 10 hours of prep/sports scheduling. Teaching Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (1.0 FTE). Coaching experience or willingness to coach is welcomed and compensated separately.
Essential Functions (Athletic Director)

Coordinate, plan, organize, and manage the after-school athletic programs

Maintain an inclusive program that promotes healthy sportsmanship and activity

Schedule games and disseminate the schedule to parents and staff via the all-school calendar

Hire all coaches and referees

Communicate with the business office for all payments to be made to coaches and refs, and for the collection of athletic fees

Provide resources for coaches to complete mandatory training, such as mandatory reporter and concussion management

Direct the registration of after-school athletics, including updating and providing all necessary parent forms

Create parent contact rosters for each sport, and text message alerts via the school’s text messaging system

Order, organize, and collect team uniforms each season for each sport
Essential Functions (PE Teacher)

Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment with clear expectations

Design and teach PE classes for students ages 4.5-14, focusing on fitness, health, understanding the human body, flexibility, strength, strategy, fine motor skills, etc.

Design classes to engage students of various ages, interests, and learning styles.

Design classes that cover topics such as yoga, dance, team sports, and running.

Employ a variety of learning tools to meet the needs of diverse learners

Complete individual evaluation for each student at the end of each term/course

Maintain communication with the classroom teacher about individual students

Maintain positive and respectful communication with students, colleagues, and families

Work with the Associate Head of School/Dean to develop programs that align with appropriate pedagogy

Be accountable for the inventory of all program materials and equipment

Ensure all spaces are cleaned and well cared for

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

Background in the area(s) of elementary/middle school physical education, health and wellness, and fitness

Ability to be aware of and support students’ emotional and physical needs while encouraging the growth of each individual child.

The successful candidate will be able to tailor the curriculum to students with various talents and physical abilities.

Undergo and pass a background check, DMV check, and drug screening test as requested
Status:
This is a full-time (10-month) in-person position during the school year. Salary is paid over 12 months, August-July. School hours are 8am-4pm. All-Staff meetings are Wednesday 3:40-5:00 pm.

Compensation
