The High Mountain Institute is seeking an Admissions Associate, a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position. This position is based on HMI’s campus in Leadville, CO; on-campus housing is included in the compensation package and required as a condition of employment. Reporting to the Director of Admissions & Financial Aid, this position works on current marketing and admissions efforts, and helps develop new strategies for recruitment and strategy. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized self-starter, able to manage multiple tasks at once, and willing to work as a member of a team.
Primary Responsibilities

Increase visibility of HMI brand and all programs

Manage logistics for admissions travel

Assist with developing avenues to meet priorities for student-body diversity & belonging

Up to eight weeks of HMI promotional travel

Process applications and enrollment information
-
Primary responder to admissions inquiries

Read and score applications; assist with admissions decisions

Communicate with interested and accepted families
-
Serve in a key support role for the admissions team
Additional Responsibilities:

Option to lead up to two wilderness expeditions per year (10-18 days each)

Option to be directly involved with students in a mentoring capacity

10% of every position is whatever needs to be done to serve the mission of HMI
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or associate's degree
-
Current driver’s license
-
Ability to travel independently around the country (in planes, trains, rental cars, etc.)

Ability to pass a criminal background check

Legal work authorization in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience in admissions and/or marketing fields, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting

Strong public speaking skills

Familiarity with Salesforce and/or Finalsite platforms

Proficiency in Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, etc.)

Demonstrated enthusiasm for working in outdoor programming

$40,000 - $45,000 annual Total Compensation (inclusive of on-campus housing or, when housing is unavailable, a housing stipend).

Housing at HMI
HMI is proud to offer newly constructed on-campus housing to its employees. Living on campus is a condition of employment. Total Compensation is the combination of cash salary plus the value of on-campus housing. For example, a Total Compensation of $50,000 typically represents a cash salary of $41,000 and $9,000 of housing value. Actual figures vary by employee and living arrangement, with typical on-campus housing value of $9,000 for most employees.
