Upper Division Student Support Interventionist (26-27 School Year)

Denver JDS announces the opening of a full-time Student Support Interventionist position for grades 6-12.  


Denver Jewish Day School Background:

Our pluralistic Jewish community day school prepares and inspires Jewish students through an extraordinary secular and Judaic education to live purposefully, act ethically, and thrive in the world.  We serve approximately 360 students in grades PK-12 on a beautiful campus in southeast Denver.  Our Upper Division comprises around 99 middle schoolers in grades 6-8 and another 95 or so high school students.  Our approximately 35 Upper Division faculty and staff come from diverse backgrounds and share a commitment to caring for and educating young people holistically.  


Role and responsibilities:

Denver Jewish Day School is seeking a caring, skilled, and collaborative Upper Division Student Support Interventionist to support students in grades 6–12. This professional will work closely with teachers, administrators, families, and students to provide academic support, learning interventions, and strategies that help students succeed in the classroom.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in special education, student support, and academic intervention, and is passionate about helping diverse learners grow with confidence, independence, and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct academic support and intervention for students in grades 6–12.

  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with learning differences, executive functioning challenges, and academic skill gaps.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to help differentiate instruction and implement appropriate accommodations and support strategies.

  • Monitor student progress and maintain clear documentation of interventions, accommodations, and outcomes.

  • Help develop and implement individualized support plans for students.

  • Work with students in small groups, one-on-one, and, when appropriate, within the classroom setting.

  • Partner with families and school staff to communicate student needs, growth, and recommended strategies.

  • Support teachers in understanding student learning profiles and applying effective classroom interventions.

  • Participate in student support meetings and contribute to discussions around academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.

  • Help identify students who may need additional support and recommend next steps.

  • Foster student self-advocacy, organization, and executive functioning skills.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role.


Qualifications:

  • Preferred Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, School Psychology,, or a related field.

  • Background in special education and student support.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a middle school and/or high school setting (grades 6–12).

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of diverse learning profiles and learning disorders.

  • Experience providing interventions and support for students with varied learning needs.

  • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, accommodations, and academic support strategies.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

  • Coordinate testing accommodations.

  • Provide executive functioning coaching.

  • Support transition planning for students moving between grades/divisions.

  • Help lead parent meetings related to student support.

  • Partner with outside providers when needed.

  • Assist in creating a school-wide system for tracking student support needs and interventions.

Comfort working in a variety of roles, including but not limited to being an advisor, overnight trip and field trip chaperone, and in-school supervision duties. 

Compensation: 

The salary range is $50,000-70,000, depending on experience.  We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.  Faculty and staff whose children are enrolled at the school receive an automatic 50 percent discount on tuition (and additional tuition assistance may be available).
