POSITION DESCRIPTION
St. Anne’s Episcopal School is pleased to announce an opening for a long-term substitute teacher, acting as a Physical Education Teacher.
St. Anne’s Episcopal School is seeking a passionate and experienced Physical Education Teacher for the 2025 - 2026 academic year. The professional should bring energy and skills in working effectively with students in lower and middle school. The ideal candidate will have a teaching background and experience in health, wellness, and/or physical education. The Physical Education Teacher will work collaboratively with the P.E. Department as well as the Lower and Middle School faculty.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

Develop and teach a physical education curriculum for K-8th grade students

Practice classroom management that centers the social-emotional needs of children and embodies a joyful classroom environment

Incorporate a lens of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion across the curriculum in both planning and delivery
-
Implement effective teaching strategies such as workshop model, conferring, specific feedback, differentiation, and incorporation of student choice and voice
-
Engage actively with assessment practices to inform class-wide instruction and individual student growth in concert with learning specialists

Communicate effectively with families about student progress through both informal touchpoints as well as formal opportunities (report cards and conferences)

Utilize technology intentionally and demonstrate an interest in learning about new tools

Contribute to community-wide needs and other duties as assigned
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
-
Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred

Minimum of three years experience teaching; experience teaching P.E. is preferred

Excellent organization, presentation and communication skills

Strong classroom management skills

Commitment to collaboration and team teaching across disciplines

Ability to build a strong rapport with students, families, school personnel and external support providers

Willingness to develop one's own knowledge and skills through professional development

Ability to work and communicate effectively and efficiently with and within a culturally diverse student body, staff, and community

Demonstrated ability to be flexible, visible, resilient, collaborative, and approachable

An enthusiastic and strong work ethic, a team player, and a self-starter
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and walking

Ability to lift, push, and pull sports equipment and set up gym facilities

Visual acuity to ensure the safety and proper supervision of students
