This is a part-time position (approximately 12 hours per week) that includes teaching English Language Arts track classes for grades 6–8 and supporting the High School writing curriculum for up to four periods each week.
Knowledge of Waldorf educational philosophy is preferred.
Essential Functions
The essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Teach English Language Arts track classes for students in grades 6–8 using Waldorf pedagogical principles.
- Assess and support student growth in all aspects of literacy, including:
- Reading comprehension.
- Writing.
- Grammar and mechanics.
- Speaking and listening skills.
- Vocabulary development.
- Collaborate with grades 6–8 class teachers to ensure alignment between Main Lesson content and ELA track instruction.
- Support the High School writing curriculum for up to four periods each week in collaboration with High School faculty.
- Foster a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Participate in faculty collaboration and contribute to the life of the school community.
Education Requirements/Certification
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field required; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience teaching English Language Arts.
- Knowledge of Waldorf education or a willingness to learn Waldorf pedagogical principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families.

Working Hours
This is a part-time position requiring approximately 12 hours per week. The work schedule will be determined in collaboration with the Middle School and High School faculty and administration based on instructional needs and class schedules. The employee is expected to be on campus for all assigned teaching periods, meetings, and other responsibilities necessary to fulfill the duties of the position. This may include faculty collaboration, student support, and occasional school events or meetings as assigned.
