Rivendell School seeks a Younger Kids Elementary Teacher (Kinder/Pre-K combined) to join our community.  At Rivendell, we believe every child and every team member is unique. About the role: 

The Younger Kids Teacher will administer Rivendell’s individualized education philosophy while creating and implementing engaging and meaningful learning experiences for students across varied topics of study such as math, literacy, social studies, science. etc., in a combined classroom of Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten children. The Teacher will make a difference in the lives of children by providing them with a nurturing environment that encourages their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.

What you will be doing: 

  • Create learning experiences that infuse creativity, inquiry, and content mastery.

  • Implement Rivendell’s philosophy of individualization; supporting multi-age classrooms and corresponding academic needs.

  • Design, plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets Colorado State Standards and activities for literacy, math, social studies and science.  

  • Maintain daily student records in accordance with established Colorado Human Services’ and Rivendell’s enrollment procedures and guidelines.

  • Continually monitor rooms for best practice arrangements of age-appropriate learning activities.

  • In a multi-topic learning environment, apply appropriate child development theories and best practice methods in the classroom to meet individual students' needs both socially and academically.

  • Ability to work collaboratively to maintain positive relationships with parents, children, and coworkers.

  • Ability to follow all licensing guidelines and school standards to ensure the daily care of every child in your classroom.

  • Cultural competence skills for working with a diverse and dynamic community.

Required:

1. Bachelor degree and Colorado teacher’s certification (or equivalent licenses)

2.. Employment is conditional upon a background check report in compliance with school requirements; reporting may include employee’s credentials, experience, criminal convictions or other requirements by law

3. Completed certification in Child/Infant CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions, and Medical Administration (Rivendell offers twice annually)

4. Completed Colorado Shines Professional Development Information System training (PDIS) - 8 online modules

  • Preferred: Colorado Early Childhood Teacher Qualification Requirements (with the expectation to maintain state in-service requirements).  

Salary Range: $39,000 - $50,000
