2nd Grade Teaching Assistant

Requirements/ Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years working in an educational or elementary school setting with students ages 7–8 years old
  • A degree, or actively pursuing a degree, in Education or a related field
  • Exposure to, training in, or qualifications related to the Science of Reading
  • Experience teaching students in both small group and whole group settings

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the 2nd Grade Assistant Teacher position:

The 2nd Grade Assistant Teacher will need to create a positive and vibrant learning environment for students. The preferred candidate will have a strong desire to see their craft improve and evolve. The ideal candidate will possess a growth mindset and share their expertise openly with others.

The 2nd Grade Assistant Teacher candidate will:

  • Support the classroom teacher by completing tasks as directed
  • Maintain and support a positive, mission-appropriate climate suitable for 7 to 8-year-old students
  • Provide direct supervision on the playground to ensure the safety of all students
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures mandated by the Colorado Department of Human Services, Health Department, and CSS
  • Apply basic tenets of all CSS-approved curricula and pedagogical approaches
  • Be able to collaborate effectively
  • Facilitate the development of a positive class culture that supports learning and personal growth
  • Appreciate and support varying learning abilities
  • Be energized by working with young children
  • Be able to handle stress well
  • Adhere to the standards described in the Employee Handbook
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher Academic Administrative Team

Salary Range: $40,000 - $45,000 annually, based upon skills and experience, excellent

benefits package.
