Salary:

Starting salary for first year faculty without teaching experience is $53,000. Salary will be higher for teachers with experience and/or additional qualifications.

You may enroll in Denver Academy’s benefit program if you are classified as a full-time employee and have completed the eligibility waiting period of 30 days. Coverage will begin the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Accountability: Reports to the Dean of 6th Grade

Position Description: The Denver Academy teacher is responsible for executing Denver Academy’s mission of inspiring and empowering diverse learners through student-centered, differentiated, and transformative education. This includes oversight and responsibility for students, program, and day-to-day operations in the classroom. The teacher is also responsible for communicating with parents and acting as a liaison with other division classrooms and the rest of the DA community.

Teaching Responsibilities:

Teaching:

  • Maintains a safe and respectful learning environment
  • Responsible for differentiating effective and purposeful lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learning styles
  • Works in partnership with Deans, Heads and Program Team for effective delivery of the DA program and content
  • Stays current with the DA program

Management:

  • Effective communication with parents
  • Conferencing as needed with parents during scheduled conference times
  • Maintain electronic attendance and gradebook system
  • Supervision before school, during lunch, and after school
  • Responsible for testing and assessment
  • Responsible for updating student files and anecdotal records
  • Responsible for completing grades and report cards before deadlines

Leadership:

  • Models professionalism in the classroom and amongst the division
  • Positively represents the DA community
  • Models conflict resolution at all levels
  • Models respect and responsibility

Additional Responsibilities (as appropriate):

  • Committees
  • School functions, such as: Admissions Open Houses, Plays and Sporting Events; Elementary School Information Night, Back to School Night, New Parent Orientation
  • In-service attendance and teacher training
  • Additional job-related responsibilities as needed
