Schedule: Part-Time (Approximately 18 hours per week)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated part-time Humanities teacher to join our middle school team. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching literature, history, and writing; skilled in fostering meaningful discussions; and committed to creating an inclusive and engaging classroom environment. This role includes teaching a blend of English Language Arts and Social Studies to middle school students.


Responsibilities

  • Teach Humanities courses (ELA) to students in fifth grade and/or sixth grade.
  • Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate curriculum aligned with school standards
  • Foster a classroom culture of inquiry, empathy, respect, and academic excellence
  • Differentiate instruction to support a variety of learners
  • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments
  • Collaborate with grade-level and subject-area colleagues
  • Maintain communication with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
  • Attend occasional staff meetings and professional development sessions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, History, or a related field (required)
  • Teaching credential and/or master’s degree (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of middle school teaching experience (preferred)
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education
  • Familiarity with project-based or interdisciplinary teaching a plus
