Private Music Instructor-Piano

August 4, 2026 - June 4, 2027

The Colorado Academy Department of Visual and Performing Arts strives to create a collaborative environment in which teachers work together as inspiration and support for each other and as a model for students. We seek candidates who have a passion for empowering students to find and use their artistic voice, in and out of the studio, and on and off the stage. We seek an artist and educator who strives for excellence in production, while the focus of teaching remains heavily on the creative process. Colorado Academy is a school that honors and values the important role the arts play in a young person’s education. This position will work closely with the Music Department Chair, fellow instrumental music instructors, and will report to the Director of Visual & Performing Arts.

Position responsibilities will include:

  • Individual piano instruction (Grades 1-12)
  • Preparing students for solo recital, piano ensemble and chamber ensemble performances
  • Event manager of at least 1 recital per school year
  • Participation in faculty meeting and professional development
  • Communicating with students, parents and colleagues concerning schedule and progress through email and in-person conferences

 

Qualified candidates will have:

  • A commitment to the core values of Colorado Academy
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Music with a concentration in piano or music education
  • A passion for making a positive impact on the lives and learning of children and adolescents, and an eagerness to work within a diverse student body
  • Desire to work collaboratively within a team of talented music educators
  • Experience in organizing and maintaining a private music studio
  • Experience in teaching various styles of music and methods, including Suzuki
  • Experience leading small chamber ensembles
  • Dependability, flexibility, and ability to maintain professionalism

Working Conditions
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing duties, the employee must be able to work at a computer, stand, sit, use stairs, and move frequently throughout campus.

The pay for this position is $63,000 - $75,000. Although this is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender, or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience. Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance benefit programs are available, as is a 403(b) retirement plan. Eligibility for all benefit programs is defined by the applicable plan document.
