Position Overview:
Graland Country Day School is seeking a middle school World Language teacher to work closely with students in grades 5-8. A successful candidate will be an experienced teacher who understands the unique needs of middle school students. This candidate thrives when working collaboratively and is skilled at working with students, faculty, and families.
Teaching in the middle school at Graland is a multi-faceted experience. It is our belief that teaching middle school students is about building relationships. Teachers are responsible for fostering a love of learning and the development of skills necessary to be successful.
A part-time Middle School World Language faculty member teaches three classes at various grade levels (5th through 7th grade). As members of the World Language department, they collaborate and coordinate curriculum and lesson plans with those teachers. Students are placed at the center of learning and the world language teachers may also serve as grade level advisors who understand that students’ academic needs and social-emotional well being are paramount. Graland Middle School teachers fulfill a variety of roles that may include coaching sports, chaperoning overnight trips, sponsoring clubs, and working with the Gates Innovation Lab.

Terms: Part-time, .6 FTE, school year, starts August 2025
Qualifications and Job Responsibilities

An experienced educator, background with Middle School students preferred.

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.

Fluent in Spanish (native or near-native speaker). Experience teaching French is a plus.

Experience with integration of Spanish and other disciplines for units of study at each grade level.

Possesses strong organization and communication skills.

Maintains effective relationships with students, faculty, administration, and parents/guardians.

Willingness to pursue ongoing professional development opportunities.

Demonstrates ease with technology, adoption of the LMS, as well as other technology programs and tools to engage learners.

Ability to chaperone students on day excursions, as well as overnight trips.

Desire to coach student athletics, a plus.

Accepts duties and responsibilities defined by position and as assigned in a moment’s notice.

Supports the middle school division as needed with classroom coverage.

Proofreads end of semester comments and rubrics as needed.

Serves as a co-advisor at any grade level, Grades 5 through 8.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Salary is between $55,000 - $75,000. Benefits include professional development, employer-paid health, vision, dental and life insurance, paid time off for school holidays and school vacations, as well as participation in a retirement plan. Daily free lunch, access to an on-campus workout facility and opportunities based on availability for subsidized on-site child care.
