Third Grade Lead Teacher for the 2024-25 School Year

Mackintosh Academy, an International Baccalaureate World School for gifted and creative students in Littleton, CO, is looking for qualified candidates to fill an opening for a full-time third grade lead teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. 

Mackintosh Academy was founded in 1977 as Colorado's first school for gifted students and serves 130 students in pre-K through eighth grade. Mackintosh Academy’s mission is to nurture the keen minds and compassionate hearts of the gifted child in a responsive and caring community of learners. Our students mature into confident, healthy human beings inspired to contribute to a world that needs them.

We are one of the Denver area's few authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) independent schools to offer both a Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). Requested Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education

  • Colorado Teaching Certificate (highly preferred)

  • A minimum of five years teaching experience with lower elementary students, preferably with gifted students

  • Understanding of inquiry-based teaching and learning, the International Baccalaureate program, IB training, and experience teaching gifted children, including twice-exceptional students, or a keen, dedicated interest in developing your skills and understandings in these pedagogies. 

The ability to:

  •  Effectively employ current teaching and assessment monitoring strategies for reading, writing, and mathematics

  • Utilize with ease interdisciplinary, inquiry, and concept-based pedagogy

  • Develop and implement lesson plans based on Mackintosh and IB standards and objectives

  • Support our educational philosophy (see website for information)

  • Adjust classroom management and instruction based on classroom or individual student needs

  • Understand gifted development, including twice-exceptional students

  • Be organized, flexible, and adapt to needs of a small school where faculty members work collaboratively and fill various roles

  • Perform classroom administrative tasks effectively

  • Provide effective and timely feedback/assessment to students

  • Recognize and enjoy the unique talents of children

  • Provide regular communication about programming and students' progress to parents and students


Start Date: August 1, 2024

Pay Range: $50-68,000. Salary consideration is given for seniority, merit, quality, education, and experience.
