ACIS accredits, supports, and advances the interests of Colorado independent schools.

Build relationships. Expand opportunities. Make a lasting impact.

Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) seeks an experienced, relationship-driven professional to serve in a distinctive hybrid role combining leadership fundraising with hands-on leadership of the (HS)² Summer Program.

The Associate Director of (HS)² & Director of Leadership Giving will connect donors’ philanthropic interests with meaningful opportunities to support CRMS and (HS)² while helping lead a transformative residential summer program for talented high school students from historically underrepresented backgrounds.

This position is ideal for an experienced independent school or nonprofit professional who is equally comfortable cultivating donors, coordinating complex projects, traveling to meet members of the CRMS community, and supporting students and colleagues on campus. The successful candidate will be steady, self-motivated, highly organized, collaborative, and motivated by both relationship-building and mission-driven work.

This is a full-time, year-round position with responsibilities that shift seasonally between fundraising and preparation and leadership of the five-week (HS)² Summer Program. The candidate should expect to spend 50% of their time cultivating Leadership Gifts and 50% of their time working on the (HS)2 Summer Program.

About Colorado Rocky Mountain School:
Colorado Rocky Mountain School is a college-preparatory boarding and day school serving students in grades 9–12. About (HS)²:
Hosted by CRMS on its campus, (HS)² is a rigorous, multiyear summer program that prepares talented students from underserved communities to succeed in high school, college, and beyond. Students participate in an intensive five-week residential experience that combines academic preparation, personal development, outdoor education, and community living.

As a member of the CRMS Development Team, the Director of Leadership Giving will cultivate, solicit, and steward donors whose philanthropy advances the missions of both CRMS and (HS)². The successful candidate will:

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 60–80 leadership donors and prospective donors across the CRMS and (HS)² communities.
  • Develop individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for each assigned donor and prospect.
  • Build authentic, long-term relationships through personal visits, phone and video conversations, correspondence, campus engagement, and events.
  • Travel regularly to meet donors and prospects across the country.
  • Qualify prospective donors and move relationships strategically toward meaningful philanthropic commitments.
  • Solicit leadership annual, campaign, capital, endowment, and legacy gifts in coordination with the Director of Development and other members of the Development Team.

  • Participate actively in Development Team planning, prospect strategy meetings, campaign initiatives, and other departmental priorities.
  • Assist with donor and grant reporting for (HS)², including the collection and presentation of program outcomes, student stories, and impact data.
  • Represent CRMS and (HS)² with professionalism, warmth, discretion, and a strong commitment to relationship-based fundraising.

Associate Director of (HS)² Responsibilities:
Working closely with the Director of (HS)², the Associate Director will support admissions, enrollment, program preparation, summer operations, evaluation, and donor reporting. By the end of each annual program cycle, the Associate Director will be expected to:

  • Maintain accurate, current applicant and student records in Salesforce and Formstack throughout the admissions and enrollment cycle.
  • Communicate promptly with applicants and families during active admissions and enrollment periods, documenting follow-up within three business days.
  • Support application review, interviews, admissions decisions, and enrollment coordination for the full incoming cohort, as directed by the Director of (HS)².
  • Maintain a comprehensive operational tracking system — students, staff, required forms, schedules, and logistics — before and throughout the summer session.
  • Coordinate travel logistics (flights, charter buses, airport transfers, chaperones) and partner with CRMS departments to ready housing, dining, facilities, technology, and health needs before students arrive.
  • Help recruit, onboard, and support seasonal faculty and staff.
  • Contribute to late-summer evaluation and reporting, including collecting stories, photos, and program outcomes for donor stewardship, within four weeks of the program's conclusion.
  • Maintain accurate program and donor data, and support completion of assigned (HS)² donor, foundation, and grant reports by internal deadlines.

Summer Program Leadership:
During the full five-week (HS)² Summer Program, the Associate Director will:

  • Co-lead the program as a visible, engaged presence in daily residential life, serving as Administrator on Duty during assigned rotations, including evenings and weekends.
  • Support daily operations, student well-being, and staff coordination in a safe, inclusive residential environment.
  • Respond effectively to student, staffing, health, travel, and operational issues as they arise.
  • Partner closely with faculty, residential and health staff, CRMS departments, students, and families throughout the program.
  • Participate fully in program life — activities, meals, events, arrivals, and departures — modeling sound judgment, flexibility, and professionalism throughout.

Campus & Community Engagement:
Life at CRMS extends beyond a conventional workday. The successful candidate must be willing and enthusiastic about participating fully in the school community. Responsibilities will include:

  • Attending and supporting selected evening and weekend events, donor gatherings, student programs, and community activities.

  • Proficiency with constituent databases, spreadsheets, online forms, office software, and other administrative systems, along with the willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Genuine interest in supporting first-generation, low-income, and historically underrepresented students.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a residential independent school community.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly and work evenings and weekends as required for donor visits, events, and program responsibilities.
  • Ability to live and work on or near campus during the five-week (HS)² Summer Program and serve as Administrator on Duty during assigned rotations.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet CRMS requirements for driving school vehicles.
