Job Posting – Elementary Learning Specialist
Denver Jewish Day School announces the opening of a full-time Lower Division Elementary Learning Specialist position.
Primary Purpose and Objectives:
Denver Jewish Day School Lower Division seeks an innovative, creative, knowledgeable elementary grades learning specialist for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a full-time position. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three years of teaching/intervention experience and a valid teaching license. A Master’s degree in special education is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding teaching skills, have experience in independent schools, be familiar with best practices in all content areas, be comfortable employing project-based learning and other student-centered approaches in the classroom, and possess excellent communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues. We are looking for a candidate who has experience with a diverse population of learners, differentiated instruction, and future-ready teaching practices. The candidate will be a positive school community member, enjoy working collaboratively with a team, and build positive relationships amongst all constituencies.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Valid teaching license preferred, master's degree in special education or equivalent, or special education certification preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills:

Has three to five years of experience in an elementary setting as a math and reading teacher or interventionist

Experience with administering and interpreting assessment data

Experience and training in multi-sensory instruction in phonemic and phonological awareness

Experience with English Language Learners preferred

Comfortable communicating with a variety of stakeholders, including outside professionals, parents, teachers, and administration

Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of school curriculum, standards, and best practices for grades K-5

Experience in behavioral interventions and classroom support preferred

Experience and comfort with educational and assistive technology preferred
Experience: At least three years of experience as a classroom teacher or learning specialist
Salary and Benefits:
Salary based on education and experience, starting salary range $50k-$68K. This is a full-time position and is eligible for benefits. Denver Jewish Day School offers an excellent benefits package.
Description:
The learning specialist serves as a resource for Lower Division students with particular academic needs and learning differences. Responsibilities:

Coordinates the implementation of necessary classroom support and standardized testing accommodations for these students

Makes appropriate outside referrals for educational testing

Consults with faculty regarding students' learning needs, differentiation, and accommodations

Partners with parents to best meet their student’s individualized learning and/or social-emotional needs

Reads and understands formal and informal assessment data and acts as liaison with community professionals and the school

Works with individual students, small groups, and within the classroom as an interventionist

Works as part of a Student Services Team and with faculty to collaborate on learning plans for students with learning differences

Engages in progress monitoring with a variety of assessment tools

Creates individual learning plans
